Christine Young

Mrs. Christine Young was born to the parentage of the late James Ferrell and Annie Bell Arnold Ferrell on January 6, 1921 in Anniston, Alabama. She met and married her beloved, Lonnie Young, and to this union were born 10 children. Mrs. Young was a faithful, active disciple in the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church for many years. She led and/or served in the nurse’s guild, Circle no. 1 and the Sunday School Department until her health began to fail, several years ago. The ministry she was most passionate about was the Sunday School class she taught, made up of all teenage boys. She dearly loved those boys and wanted the best for them. She joyfully picked out Christmas presents for each one of them and proudly went to hear their presentations on the program. She loved her 10 children deeply and her lifestyle always showed that Christ was the center of her life. She enjoyed giving all 10 of her grown children individual Christmas gifts, as well as their spouses. She kept a calendar with her grandchildren’s birthdays listed so that she would not forget to send them a card. family reunions were a yearly event. To have all 10 of her children at home, with all of her grandchildren running around the house playing, brought much joy to her heart. There was nothing she would withhold from any of them. She was a pro in playing dominoes with her family during these family gatherings, and very seldom lost a game. In her later years, when she was still healthy enough to function on her own strength, she volunteered in the Public School System to help little boys and girls with their reading.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Young; parents, James and Annie Ferrell; one brother, Ervin Ferrell; two sisters, Sadie Maude Hawkins and Lillian Crim; and son, James Arthur Young.

She leaves to cherish her memories, 9 children: Annie Laura Bradford (Clint) of Atlanta, GA; Jereline Talley of Villa Rica, GA; Wilbur Young (Lois) of Columbus, OH; Jerry Young of Anniston, AL; Samuel Young of Marietta, GA; Alonza Young (Pam) of Anniston, AL; Juan Ortiz Young of Lima, OH; Clarese Deneice howell of Atlanta, GA; and Symethia Alfreda Morris (Rod) of Columbus, OH; a daughter-in-law, Eleanor A. Young of Columbus, OH. She also leaves 29 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. What a life well-lived to the glory of God>
