Obituary

Ada Birdsong Prater McElderry was born on May 8, 1935 to the parentage of John Birdsong and Ella Woods Birdsong in Calhoun County, Alabama. She was preceded in death by both parents.

She attended school in Munford, Alabama and graduated from Jenifer High School. After graduation, she attended Alabama A & M. Her love and compassion for people lead her to become a nurse at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, where she touched the lives of so many.

She established her faith in Christ and united with the Sweet Rock Pure Holiness Church. She later moved to Piedmont, Alabama and united with the A D Church of God. She later moved her membership to the Thankful Baptist Church in Piedmont.

She transitioned from this earthly life to her new heavenly home on September 3, 2024 at her home in Piedmont, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her sons, Nathaniel Prater and Rickey (Karen) Prater; her daughters, Elizabeth Reid and Daphaine (Kenneth) Teague; a special daughter, Margaret Kellar; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her special nieces, Wanda Gamble and Janice Allen; a special nephew, Franklin Gooden; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Knox; a brother-in-law, Lester McElderry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
