Barbara Collier Gurley was born on June 10, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama to the parentage of James I. and Mavis V. Collier. Barbara touched many lives of those who had the pleasure to make her acquaintance. She was a wonderful wife and best friend for twenty-eight delightful years to her husband, Kent Gurley. She loved being a mother, not only to her own, but also to many children who were not hers biologically.

Barbara passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of seventy-four after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her loved ones will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by: father, James I. Collier and her mother, Mavis V. Collier.

Precious and treasured memories will always be in the hearts of: her husband, Kent Gurley; her sister, Jane ( George) Mileski; eight children, Raymond (Jennifer) Bell, Dwight (Donna) Bell, Tammy (Ricky) Herron, Cary (Ann) Cooper, Tyler Gurley, Kendrice Gurley, Shay (Chris) Cothran, and Dawn (Justin) Williams; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply; and a host of other relatives and friends.
