Charles McArthur "Bird Brains" Bolton was born on October 22, 1949 in Jacksonville, Alabama to the parentage of Mr. Luther and Geneva Bolton. He attended the city schools of Jacksonville and Anniston. He ran track for Cobb High School.

"Bird Brains" departed this life on Monday, June 22, 2015 at RMC Jacksonville. He has joined: his parents; his only brother, Willie "Red" Bolton; and one nephew, Rodney "Taye" Bolton.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a longtime companion, Carla Truss; his daughter, Trayce M. Kidd of Syracuse, New York; three sisters, Quintonie Bolton Pruitt of Jacksonville, Alabama, Doris Bolton (Leroy) Gunter of Atlanta, Georgia and Shirley Maxwell of Bronx, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (Abernaathy, Bolton, Johnson, Carter, Bowie,Hughley and Carpenter) and friends.
