Charles Edward "Grandaddy" Goggins, Sr. was born in Anniston, Alabama on April 16, 1931 to the parentage of Walter and Eva Goggins. He was the youngest child born to this union. His relationship with God began at an early age at the Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church. Charles graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in 1953. He was a loving, dedicated husband, father and foundry worker, retiring after 36 years of hard work.
He was unitedi n holy matrimony to his soulmate for fifty-two years, Claudette Glover Goggins, and to this union five children were born. He leaves to cherish his loving and wonderful memory: two daughters, Bernice Goggins Murphy and Patricia Goggins Sledge; three sons, Charles, Jr. (Bonnie), Terry (Vivian) and Earnest (Gussie); fourteen grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Claudette Glover Goggins; his parents, Walter and Eva Goggins; his siblings, Earnest Goggins, James Goggins, Thomas Goggins and Annie Bell AMcGraw; his grandson, Antonio Murphy.
