Charlie Thomas Russell, Jr. was born to the parentage of the late Charlie Thomas Russell, Sr. and Maggie White Russell in LaGrange, Georgia. They later moved to Anniston, Alabama where he attended Anniston City Schools. He met the love of his life and on September 9, 1956, he was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Jean Nixon. They were married for 59 years and to this union two children were born.

Charlie worked at Alabama Pipe Company and FMC for over 50 years, where he later retired. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoralship of the late Dr. D.C. Washington.Later on, under the pastoralship of the late Rev. Dr. Nimord Q. Reynolds, he served on the usherboard, Trustee Board and the Love Meal Ministry. Charlie was a loving, devoted husband and father and was an excellent provider for his family. He loved the outdoor beautification of flowers and gardens.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving wife, Dorothy J. Russell; a daughter, Cindra R. Russell; a son, Donald W. Russell; an adopted daughter, Jacqueline Y. Turner; three brothers, Ret. Col. Calvin (Rosetta) Russell of Washington, D.C., Michael Russell of Anniston, Alabama, Ret. PO1 Jerry (Rhonda) Russell of Powder Springs, Georgia; two sisters, Michelle Russell of Anniston, Alabama and Ret. Sgt. Lorna (Kenneth) Clark of Anniston, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Mattie M. (Ret. SFC Willie) Holmes of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Geneva Baker of Anniston, Alabama; two grandchildren, Brandon I. Morrison and Alexis N. Turner; a special cousin, Marie Collins Wynn of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie T. Russell, Sr. and Maggie White Russell; grandparents, Jim and Hattie White; stepmother, Ola Mae Russell; and a brother, Edmond Russell.
