Obituary

Dr. Charlie M. Stinson, Jr. "Billy" was born to the late Reverend Doctor and Mrs. Charlie M. Stinson, Sr. on September 6, 1941 in Garland, Alabama. His educational journey was comprised of attendance at: Georgiana Training School in Georgiana, Alabama; Selma University; Alabama A & M University; Fisk University; and Howard University, where he completed his Ph.D in Bioinorganic Chemistry.

He was united in holy matrimony to his love, Sarah Jewell Miller on June 10, 1978, and from this union two children were born, Chartiece Marcell and Charlie M. Stinson, III.

His life of service touched so many lives in a plethora of arenas. At Talladega College, Dr. Stinson served as an instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Chairman of the Chemistry Department, Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Faculty Marshal, and Mentor. Within his community, he served as a member of the Deacon Board and Sunday School teacher at Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. He was an active member of the Epsilon Delta Lambda Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated by way of the Delta Gamma Chapter.

Dr. Stinson passed away October 27, 2017. He is survived by: his wife of 39 years, Mrs. Sarah Miller Stinson; daughter, Mrs. Chartiece (Roy) Gunter, Odenville, Alabama; son, Mr. Charlie M. Stinson, III, Aberdeen, Maryland. His granddaughter, Jordyn Gunter and grandson, Jacob Gunter will forever cherish the time God allowed them to spend with their precious "Big Daddy". The siblings: Dr. Solomon Clinnon Stinson, Miami, Florida; Ms. Ruthalene Riggien, Miami, Florida; Mr. Lendell (Willie) Stinson, Madison, Alabama; Dr. Essie D. Pace, Fairburn, Georgia; Ms. Vera Stinson, Decatur, Georgia; and Dr. Anthony  (Suzette) Stinson, Stone Mountain, Georgia will forever cherish the memories of their brother. His brother-in-law, Mr. Robert L. Miller, Birmingham, Alabama and sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances M. Conner, Stockbridge, Georgia will hold dear memories of their brother-in-law.
