Clarence Melvin Nelson, Sr. was born December 17, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina to James and Rosa Nelson. He attended school in Charleston, South Carolina.
Clarence came to Alabama as a young man in the early 70's. He worked at the Anniston Army Depot for 25 years and retired in1991. After his retirement, he worked as a handy man for several years. He also served in the United States Army as well as in the National Guard.
Clarence loved people. If he could help you he would. He was always there ready to help no matter what the task. He enjoyed keeping his yard beautiful. He took pride in it. He loved to pick up pecans and then share them with his friends. He ws a small man with a heart full of love. He could say some of the funniest things.
Clarence passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He is survived by: two sons, Clarence M. Nelson, Jr. and Wendell Nelson; one daughter, Christina (David) Burnett; four grandchildren; one brother, Joe Nelson; a devoted companion, Gwendolyn Kenny; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
