Obituary

Claudia Mae Parker was born on November 1, 1931 to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Velma Stephens in Cleburne County.

Claudia was baptized at an early age and joined the Macedonia Baptist Chuch in Heflin, Alabama. She later joined the Parker Memorial Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a deaconess and on the Usher board (president), Missionary/Matrons Society and sang in the choir.

On Deceber 24, 1953, Claudia was united in mariage to Deacon J.C. Parker. This union was blessed with 53 years of holy matrimony. Three children were born to this union: Jacqueline, Clellon and Tonya.

Claudia was a special woman who helped anyone she could.  She would visit the sich and those in need, often taking along baskets of food and quilts and her canned goods. She provided love  and a home to many foster children in Talladega County.

She was employed at Imperial Reading for many years as a seamstress and later as a housekeeper at Golden Living Nursing Home.

On Tuesdau, February 14, 2017, Claudia departed this life at the Diversicare Healthcare Services Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, J.C. Parker; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Stephens; three brothers, Clifford Stephens, Clellon Stephens and James Stephens; and two sisters, Minnie Dunn and Joyce Stephens.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her daughters, Jacqueline (John) Taylor of Columbia, South Carolina and Tonya (Derrick) Kidd of Suwanee, Georgia; one son, Clellon (Janice) Parker of Rainbow City, Alabama; five grandsons, Jeremy Taylor and Jonathan Taylor, Cameron Parker, Jalen Kidd and Coby Kidd; one great granddaughter, Cadence Taylor; three sisters, Mrs. Christine Smith, Mrs. Agnes Akles and Mrs. Irene (Larry) Lindsey; one brother, Mr. Walter (Gloria) Stephens; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Pearlene Parker, Mrs. Betty Stephens, Mrs. Lola Stephens and Mrs. Belinda Stephens; and a host of other family and friends.
