Cynthia Pope Ervin was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 6, 1967, to the parentage of Raymond and Sallie Mae Pope. She attended Birmingham City Schools and graduated from Jackson-Olin High School in 1985. In December of 1985 she married her high school sweetheart, Sylvester.

Cynthia spent her life serviing God and people. She consistently put others before herself. She was known for her patience, kindness and encouragement that she so often shared with others. A faithful wife and mother, Cynthia saw her heart's desires fulfilled when her husband and children developed a relationship with Christ.

Cynthia had an entrepreneurial spirit. She owned a catering company and a cleaning service until the onset of her illness in 2002. Despite her progressing illness, she was the co-owner of God Sent Towing.

On Monday, March 3, 2014, God, in His infinite wisdom called Cynthia home. Treasured memories will always remain with: her loving and devoted husband, Sylvester Ervin, Jr.; her children, DeAntwon Ervin, Jermaine (Brianna) Ervin, Raymond Ervin and Janay Smarr; her mother, Sallie Pope; her sisters, Ramona Pope and Dionette (Michael) Moorer; her caregiver and mother-in-law, Thomasine Wallace; her sister-in-law, Faith (L.A.) Abraham; and a host of other family and friends whom she loved dearly.
