Dorothy Robertson was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on April 4, 1933 to John and Alberter Cook Livingston. She lost her parents at a young age. She and her brother moved from house to house until settling with her aunt, Maggie Martin.

She completed 6 years of school and later on she got a job. She later moved to Anniston, where she met Charlie Robertson. They were later married and 10 children were born to this union.At the time of her husband's death, there were 7 surviving children.

She left her earthly house on March 28, 2016 at the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by: her husband;three sons, Garfield, Clarence and David; and one daughter, Mary Ann.

She is survived by: her children, Judy (Michael) Washington, Charles (Mary) Robertson, Sylvester Robertson, Dorothy J. Langston, Virginia (Charles) Crooms and Tim (Shelia) Parrish; her siblings, Lizzie Mae Brown, Ida Mae Odom and Dan Martin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
