Mr. Eddie George Williams was born on June 22, 1932, in Macon (Noxubee County), Mississippi to Finnis Williams and Orlee Johnson. He departed this life on May 18, 2017.
He joined the U.S. Army at an early age and was stationed in many assignments, including Korea and Fort McClellan. It was during his assignment at Fort McClellan that he met and married the love of his life, Irene Sterling, with whom he shared 54 years of love and happiness. He retired from the army in 1976. Upon transitioning from the army, he worked as a Small Arms Repairman and Equal Opportunity Counselor at the Anniston Army Depot, retiring in 1995.
During his free tiem, he enjoyed working on his lawn and gardening. Their home was the recipient of the "Anniston Beautification Award, twice!
He was a longtime member of the All Saints Catholic Church, where he served in numerous roles and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in 2015.
He was the eldest of sixteen children and is survived by: his son, Gonzellas (Evelyn) Williams of Georgia; one grandson, Desmond Gonzellas Williams of Indiana; nine siblings; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
