Mrs. Ethel Mae Almon peacefully left this earthly home for her eternal rest on Monday, December 15, 2014. She ws born in Natchez, Alabama to Frank and Lizzie Marshall.
Ethel was baptized at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated worker throughout her life. Her devoted service of more than 50 years at the Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church included: the Missionary Society, the Willing Workers, the Tribe of Manasseh, the Flower Club and singing in the choir.
She graduated from Beatrice High School. She attended Alabama A&M, where she met her best friend and future loving husband, William Wyattt Almon, Jr. They were married in 1948 and moved to Anniston, Alabama. He was preceded in death by her husband after 50 years of marriage.
Ethel worked as a kindergarten teacher atSeventeenth Street Baptist Church and eventually obtained a position at Community Action Agency where she was promoted to Head Start Handicap Coordinator. She retired after being with CAA for over 36 years. She was also a member of the board of directors for the Tolbert Qualified Settlement Fund, where she served for over 10 years.
