Geneva Abernathy was born on August 19, 1925 in Jacksonville, Alabama to the parentage of the late Key and Fannie Abernathy. She was baptized at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She attended the county school systems of Jacksonville.

She was later married to the late Mr. Luther Bolton in 1942 and moved to Anniston, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia and back to Anniston. To this union, two children were born. After moving back to Anniston, she joined the Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. White.

Mrs. Bolton departed this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Jacksonville Health & Rehab Center. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Charles (Carla) Bolton of Anniston, Alabama, Doris Bolton of Conyers, Georgia and Tonie Pruitt of Alexandria, Alabama; her grandchildren, Tracye Kidd, Torey (Angel) Bolton, Tiaun (Nikita) Bolton and Tre Pruitt; fifteen greant grandchildren; two step-grandchildren,  Rodney bolton and Sonya McCarter; two special nieces, Ann Landry and Margaret Johnson; three special sons, Deric Robinson, Jesse Trammell and Cleo Howard; and a host of other loving family and friends.
