MSG (Ret.) George Dunham was born on June 11, 1946 to Ruthie Mae Johnson in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Carver High School, Birmingham, AL and joined the United States Army. After serving a tour in Vietnam, he continued to serve in the Army Reserve, from which he retired in June 2006. He also served in various positions for the United States Postal Service until retirement in 2003.

In addition to being known as the "Postman" and a soldier, he was also known as husband and father. He was united in holy matrimony to Katherine Anne (Thomas) Dunham on September 7, 1968 and they remained married for 53 years. From that union, three daughters were born: La-Tanya Denise (Tiger), Michelle Renee (Mic) and Adrienne Marie (Mommy).

George's journey on this earth ended peacefully during the evening of December 15, 2021. He will be forever missed by his wife: Katherine Dunham, Birmingham, AL; his three girls: La-Tanya Dunham, Birmingham, AL, Michelle Dunham, Chicago, IL , and Adrienne Dunham, Rockville, MD; his granddaughter, Payton Maycie Dunham (Birmingham, AL); special nephew, Clinton Stonewall, California, MD; special niece, Chandra Stonewall, Raleigh, NC; brother-in-law Austin Thomas, Birmingham, AL; brother-in-love and his family, Ralph, Eloise, Kenya, Jelani and Aisha, Birmingham, AL; a brother, Henry Johnson (Francis, Tish, Shani and Erica), Marietta, GA and a host of adopted sons and daughters as well as uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
