On May 29, 1929, Zellus and Maybell Harris were blessed with a very special angel, they named her Georgia Lee. Georgia Lee was born in Opelika, Alabama, the fifth of nine children born to this union. Georgia Lee was preceded in death by seven of her siblings, tommy, May-Zellus, Willie, Zellus, Jr., Harvey, Marylene and John. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert, and grandson, Quincy Jerome.

On February 26, 2025, Georgia Lee made her transition from labor to rest at the age of 95. Georgia Lee accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age. She was a phenomenal woman of faith who deeply loved and cared for her family and others in her community. Georgia Lee completed her high school studies at Calhoun County training School (CCTS) and married her classmate, George Robert Hawkins. This union was blessed with two sons, Jerome (Ronnie) and Robert. Shortly after Robert's birth, George Robert was killed in a car accident, leaving Georgia Lee widowed with two very young sons.

Georgia Lee moved her family back to Alabama with the love and support of her family and community, she raised her sons and began her pursuit of continued service to god, her family and her community, in that order. Georgia Lee served in several roles in the church, always uplifting and encouraging the youth. Over the years, Georgia Lee served as Director of the Matrons Society, Young Adult Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Principal. Her dedication to God, family and community was unwavering.

In 1958, Georgia Lee was blessed with another love and married William (Daddy Billy) Crump. The US Army relocated the family to Fort Sill, in Oklahoma. This union was blessed with a daughter, Darlene, fulfilling another one of Georgia Lee's dreams of having a daughter. While in Oklahoma, Georgia Lee and Darlene enjoyed mother daughter activities together, such as Campfire girls. this was another way for Georgia Lee to connect God, family and community as her life priorities. On June 2, 1962, tragedy struck again and Georgia Lee's husband was killed in an auto accident.

Professionally, Georgia Lee was a Christian and served in her church as an exemplary leader to all youth in her roles there. She was also a talented artist and seamstress/certified tailor. Most important, Georgia Lee lived her life serving god, leading every day in every way by example for all of her family and her community. Georgia Lee considered teaching her father to read as her greatest accomplishment in life.

Georgia Lee is survived by her daughter, Darlene Hill (Michael) of Desoto, TX; her son, Jerome (Sheila) of Alexandria, VA; one sister, Pearl Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply.
