Obituary

Harvey Lewis Smith was born November 1, 1959, in Talladega County, Alabama to James and Angela "Ray" Smith.

Mr. Smith was a product of the Talladega County School System, where he attended Lincoln High School and graduated Class of 1978. Harvey was a drummer in the Lincoln High School band. After high school, he enlisted in the United Stated Army and served until 1984. While traveling around the world to protect and serve his country, his last assignment was with the A Battery, 8th Battalion/8th infantry Division. Harvey was a lover of many things and the life of the party. He had a kind heart (in his own way, LoL) and never met a stranger he wouldn't help. Throughout his years here on earth and because of his love for people, he would coach and mentor young men through his referee career. Harvey was an official for football, baseball, and basketball with the East Alabama officials Association for 31 years.

On Monday, June 23, 2025, Harvey Lewis Smith reunited with his Father in Heaven and was greeted by his loving family members. Harvey was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, relative, best friend, mentor, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Georgia Mae; his parents, James and Angela "Ray" Smith; his brothers, James "Boston" Wills and Jackie Smith; his sister Essie Mae "Bay Bay"; and his favorite Uncle Lester Gover.

He leaves to cherish his memories with: his loving children, Roshawn A. Smith of oxford, Alabama and Dr. Jasma k. Smith of Fairburn, GA; his grandchildren, Iesha Williams and Jakaylia Smith of Nashville, Tennessee, and A'Mir "AJ" Smith of Oxford, Alabama; great-grandson, Jamari Williams; his brother, Bobby Smith of Lincoln, Alabama; his sister, Ann S. Pearson of Lincoln, Alabama; and a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and co-workers.
