Mrs. Hattie Mae Johnson Frederick was born on April 28, 1920, in Lee County, Alabama. She was the oldest child born to the parentage of Rev. Nathan and Mrs. Alberta Oliver Johnson. She was educated in the Opelika school system. As a child, she united with the Union Hill Methodist Church in Opelika, Alabama.
She was united in holy matrimony to Hayward Frederick, Sr. and to this union four children were born; Hayward Jr., Nathan, Robert Sr. and Timothy, who all affectionately called her "Lil Mama". After moving to Anniston, she united with the Haven United Methodist Church, where she served as a Communion Steward. She was employed for many years as a domestic.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. Nathan and Virginia Johnson and Alberta Oliver Johnson; her husband, Hayward Frederick, Sr.; her sons, Hayward Frederick, Jr., Nathan Frederick and Robert Frederick, Sr.; her siblings, Jonathan Johnson, Johnnie Lowe, Benjamin Johnson, Robert Johnson and George Johnson.
She departed her earthly life on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Timothy W. Frederick of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; her grandchildren, Yvonne (Glen Hut) Williams of Anniston, Alabama; Clifford (Linda) Frederick of Clarksville, Tennessee, Deborah (Ernest) Grimes of Hoover, Alabama, Adrian Fredericdk of Anniston, Alabama, Robert Frederick, Jr. of Killeen, Texas, Rita (Bobby) Adley of Clarksville, Tennesse, Yolanda Frederick of Austin, Texas, Deanna Frederick of Cleveland, Ohio, Christopher (Rosa) Frederick of Cleveland, Ohio, Timothy Frederick of Cleveland, Ohio and Beverly (Bobby) Bell of Clarksville, Tennessee; twenty-three grandchildren; eighteen great, great-grandchildren; her sister,Lillie Waterford of Cleveland, Ohio; her brother, Reginald Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Others she held close to her heart: Doug Mosley, Barbara Frederick, Sharon Frederick, Belinda Adams, Ernest Sr. and Candace Grimes, Ella Copeland, Betty Jean Childress, Sherry Walker, Emma Wilson, Penelope Briskey, Yvonne Phillips and Adina Peoples.
