Hazel Kimble was born on October 31, 1934 in Ashland, Alabama to the parentage of Joe and Inez Kimble. Both parents preceded her in death.

She received her formal education in Ashland and later moved to Anniston, where she attended and graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in the class of 1953.

Hazel loved life. She loved her family and friends and gave herself wholeheartedly to any and every task. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her two sons, Nathaniel and Fred. She enthusiastically looked forward to helping organize, plan and attend the Cobb Mass Reunion.

She was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer and was also on the Usher Board for over 50 years.

As with every other aspect of her life, Hazel was diligent with her work life. She worked as a presser at Oxford Dry Cleaners for over 40 years, but her career as a presser extended for over 70 years!

On the evening of December 3, 2025, Hazel answered the Master's call at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama. She was preceded in death by: her son, Petty Officer, Fred Maffet, United States Navy; her parents, Joe and Inez Kimble; and her sisters, Lottie Kimble and Gloria Kimble; and her nephew, Major Dwayne Williams, United States Army Ranger.

Her beautiful memories will always be treasured by: her son, Nathaniel (Teretha) Maffett; her stepdaughter, Phyllis Rittenhouse; her grandchildren, Nathaniel B Maffett, Jr., Marcellus G Maffett and Dedra T. Woodgett; one great-grandson, Zararo Woodgett; her sisters, Dorthy (James C) Bradford and Pearl Williams; her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
