On December 16, 1964, Samuel Heard, Sr. and Carlton Nadell Elston Heard were blessed with the arrival of their third child, Jennie. Jennied confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.S. Nettles. Jennie was a graduate of Anniston High School, Class of 1983. She was united in holy matrimony to Lex Newman.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Lex Newman; two sons, David Heard and Andre Lee; one grandson, David Arnez Heard; her mother, Carlton Heard; her sisters, TiaJuana Elston, Kay Sonja (Quentin) Long, Samantha (Ira) Dent, Lasharn Heard and Linda Jenkins; one brother, Samuel Heard, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
