Obituary

On April 8, 1949, God entrusted Dorothy Boyd with a bouncy bubbly baby girl who was given the name of Jennifer Paige Boyd. Jennifer was born in Hobson City, Alabama. Jennifer grew up under the watchful eyes of her mother.

She grew in love and admonition of God, and at a young age joined the New Hope Baptist Church under Rev. H. B. Vincent. In later years she united with the Oak Ridge Baptist Church where she served with unwavering faith despite her health until death. She watched Sunday Morning Worship and attended Bible Study on Zoom.

Jennifer attended first grade at Ophelia S. Hill Elementary School, Jennifer, Alabama before entering 2nd grade at Calhoun County Training School where she would graduate in 1966. She attended Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama.

Jennifer was a dedicated employee at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center for more than 50 years where she was an administrative assistant to several hospital administrators.

She enjoyed planning family reunions, trips and gatherings with family and friends. She loved buying birthday gifts and Christmas gifts for everybody; she enjoyed playing Spades, watching Tik Tok, reading and movies.

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Jennifer answered her Master's call at home surrounded by her loving family. Jennifer is survived by her loving and devoted children who were proud to have her as their mother: Illya Boyd (Terry), of California; Tamika Boyd, of Oxford, Alabama, Yolanda Peters, Anniston, Alabama, Vanessa Henderson (Todd) of Georgia; and Charles Staples II of Birmingham, Alabama, siblings, William Wilson (Daryl) and Roderick Boyd (Charlie) of Hobson City, Alabama, and Lori Ann McKinney of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was the loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren, multiple great grands, and her best friend of more than 70 years, Rev. Alberta McCrory, a host of nieces and nephews and a sea of loving cousins and friends.

Jennifer is preceded in death by: her husband Charles Staples and her mother Dorothy McKinney.
