On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Joanne Elston Campbell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away in Austell, Georgia surrounded by her cherished family. Born on March 27, 1947, in Anniston, Alabama, Joanne was the first child to be born at the family "home house". Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Inez Elston; three brothers, Clarence Elston Jr., Franklin Elston, Lavon Elston; two sisters, Mary Louise Miller; Lena Mae (Ullis) Hall; and one infant son.

Joanne's spiritual journey began at an early age of being baptized at Thankful Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. After moving to Villa Rica, Georgia, she became a dedicated member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Deaconess and as a founding member of the Women of Wisdom organization.

She attended Calhoun County High School. Joanne spent many years working in the banking industry before discovering her passion for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Her hard work and dedication in the industry led her to earn their most prestigious award, the Pink Cadillac. Known for her infectious smile and "can-do" attitude, Joanne brought beauty into the lives of everyone she met.

Joanne's love for her family was unmatched. On June 4, 1972, she married the love of her life affectionately known as "Campbell", and they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised four daughters and one son. They explored the world, first as a military couple and later in their retirement years, often accompanied by their closest friends. Joanne loved to travel, garden, listen to gospel music, shop, and dress impeccably.

A constant presence in the lives of her loved ones, Joanne could always be counted on to show up for every school performance, birthday, shower, wedding, award ceremony, and grand opening. Her generosity knew no bounds—whatever you needed; Joanne made sure to make it happen.

Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by her devoted husband, Willie J. Campbell of Douglasville, GA; her children: Sharon (Earl) Key of Douglasville, GA; Sherell (Johnny) Daniels of Conyers, GA; Kenneth (Shelia) Campbell of Baton Rouge, LA; Sonja (Abdul) Shabazz of Stone Mountain, GA; and Sophia (Dorian) Ore of Jonesboro, AR. She is also survived by her siblings: Eddie Mae (David) Satcher of McDonough, GA; Odessa Moore of Anniston, AL; Ruby McCrary of Anniston, AL; and Paul Elston of Anniston, AL. Joanne's loving legacy continues through her grandchildren: LaToya (Kelly), LaTrice (Jason), Antoine (Ashleigh), Angelique, LaShondra (Abubakar), Marchelle (Desirae), Ileshia, Mark, Eric, Miles, Maliese, and her great-grandchildren: Bailea, Mahlon, Anas, Amina and Demi. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
