Katie L. Plear was born on April 10, 1928 in Freemont, Alabama to the parentage of Chester and Arlena Goggins Howard. Katie graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, Alabama in 1946. She was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. There, she was a member of the Senior Usher Board, the Denard Matron Circle, and the choir. She was also served as a member of the Missionary Society.
Katie was employed by Genesco, where she was a seamstress for many years. She then worked at Blue Mountain Industries, where she later retired.
Katie was preceded in death by: her sister Flora and two daughters Yolanda and Barbra.
She is survived by: a nephew Bradley; six grandchildren Adrienne Holman, Kenda Holman, Ebony Gray Gibson, Jillian Gray, Carita Holman, and Adam (Tiffany) Gray; three great grandchildren Jamian, Jaquille, and Alyza; as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends. Katie also leaves to cherish her memory special friends Louise Poole Brady, Patricia Bush Huguley, Rosetta Jones Hamerdennis, and Sandra Poole Clark
