Lois Dean Alexander Swain was born on February 5, 1944 in Elmore County, Alabama. She was the first born daughter of James "Jimmy" Lee and Georgia Lee (Caver) Alexander. Lois grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama and attended Phyllis Wheatly and East Highland Schools, where she was a majorette and a cheerleader. She and her younger sister, Betty, were well known in the community as they would often harmonize any new music they heard, as well as create their own dance steps for family and friends. In 1963, Lois was blessed with a daughter, Cynthia. In 1964 she was blessed with a son, Marcus Suttles. Later in 1964, she married Robert Edward Swain of Kymulga, Alabama. Lois and her daughter relocated to Anniston, Alabama, where she worked at a few different places: Ft. McClellan Mess Hall #1001, Sanguinetti household, RiteWay Cleaning Service, Simmons & Simmons Janitorial Service and Bevill State Community College. Throughout her life she kept true to participating in and attending her much loved gospel singings and anniversaries. Following in the footsteps of The Gabrielairs' "Little Man with The Big Voice", her father, she sang with local gospel choirs and groups such as The Mars Hill Baptist Church, The McRath Family's Stars of Faith, and the Alexander Family. Lois transitioned from her earthly life while at home with her daughter. She is survived by: her daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Watts; adopted daughters, Gloria Ball Brown, Katrina Herring, Patricia Evans Caver, Carrie McDowell, Carlet Ealey-Boggs, Cynthia Pittman, Michelle Loveberry, Debra Snipes (Ron) Jackson, and Francine Rene; her son, Marcus (Pamela) Suttles; adopted sons, Frederick Lee, Zachary Hogue, Vincent O'Hara, and Kleindienst Adams; her grandchildren, Denetra Good, Geovandie Lewis, Shamikka Jones, Kanada (Valentina) Simmons, Cicily Caldwell, and Kimberly Mann; her niece, Kimberly Brown; her great nieces and nephew, Amya O'Neal, Ja'Kayla O'Neal, Koriyah Kimbrough, and Josiah Kimbrough; her adopted sisters, Patricia Neely Wilson, Mamie Crook, Iris Ervin and Shirley Swanson; and a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends. Lois was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Swain; her parents, James and Georgia Alexander; and her sister, Betty Jean Alexander.
