Lue Alice Thornton was born on December 18, 1938, in Anniston, Alabama. She was the third child of nine siblings born to John Arthur and Ethel Inez Thornton. She graduated from  Cobb Avenue High School. continuing her education, she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she completed two years of community college, studying tailoring. She later moved back to her hometown of Anniston, where she purchased a beautiful home and fulfilled her dreams, her desires and her ambitions.

Lou Alice accepted Christ in her life and attended the New Jerusalem Church of God, where she became a devoted and dedicated member. Down through the years, time brought about sever changes in leadership, resulting in her moving her membership several times. She finally joined Peter's Rock Holiness Church and remained a faithful and dedicated member.

On Sunday, May 1, 2016, family members loked on as she took her last breath. She went to a home where there is no more pain, no more suffering and no more sorrow.. She is resting in the arms of Jesus along with her parents, John Arthur and Ethel Inez Thornton; and one skister, Mary Louise Thornton.

Lue Alice leaves to mourn: four sisters, Doris Elizabeth of Anniston, Alabama, Ethel Lee, Queen Ester and Tawanza Gail Thornton, all of Detroit, Michigan; three brothers, Henry Lee (Betty) Thornton of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Charlie (Charlotte) Thornton of Billerica, Massachusetts and Willie Daniel Thornton of Anniston, Alabama; seven nieces, Dianne, Lisa, LaShon, Marissa, Michelle, Lakesha and Cassandra; five nephews, Michael, Clifton, Reggie, Brian and Calvin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
