Mrs. Mamie Prater was born to the parentage of Mr. & Mrs. John Griffie in Piedmont, Alabama.She united with the Thankful Baptist chruch at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board, the Matrons Circle and Missionary Circle No. 1, until her health failed.

Mrs. Prater departed thsi life on October 28 at her residence. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, Charles Prater; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her father, John Griffie; her mother, Evie Griffie; five brothers and three sisters.
