Mary Louise Thornton, daughter of John Arthur and Ethel Inex Thornton, departed this life on December 31, 2015, at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Mary was born on December 20, 1937, in Anniston, Alabama. She was the second child of eight siblings. Mary graduated from Cobb Avenue High School. She later moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she completed two years of Copmmunity College, studying tailoring. After moving back home, she attended Gadsden State Community College, studying business administration. Mary accepted Christ in her life and attended New Jerusalem Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a choir director. Later she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Greater Grace Temple.
On Thursday, December 31, 2015, the Lord called Mary home to rest. Home, where there is no more pain, no sorrow or suffering.
Mary leaves to cherish her loving memory: five sisters, Doris Elizabeth, Lue Alice Thornton, Ethel Lee, Queen Ester and Tawanza Gail Thornton; three brothers, Henry Lee (Betty) Thornton, Charlie Lewis (Charlotte) Thornton and Willie Daniel Thornton; seven nieces; five nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
