Rev. Matthew N. Lee was born on August 10, 1934 to Noah and Fannie Lee in Eutaw, Alabama and donned his angel wings and flew to live with his Heavenly Father on June 17, 2015. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor for over 35 years.
He received his education in the Birmingham City Schools system. He went on to attend the Easonian Baptist Seminary. He was ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry on December 12, 1965. Matthew was joined in holy matrimony to Ruth Mae Hinton on August 29, 1954. He was employed by Jim Walters Resources, Sloss Industries Coke Plant, where he worked dilligently for 45 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted , loving and supportive wife of 61 years, Ruth M. Lee; eight children, Matthelon (Wanda) Morton of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ricky (Pauline) Morton of Cameron, North Carolina, Sherry A.Beverly of Atlanta, Georgia, Minister Matthew (Veronica) Lee,Jr. of Los Angeles, California, Gerald Lee of Birmingham, Alabama, Patricia D. Lee of Birmingham, Alabama, Nicolas L. (Tammy) Lee of Birmingham, Alabama and Timotheus Lee of Ruther Glen, Virginai; a brother, David (Janice) Lee of Saginaw, Michigan; a sister, Lilly Fillmore of Birmingham, Alabama; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
