Queenie Alma Sims was born on October 30, 1930 in Brookside, Alabama to the parentage of Robert and Ethel Young Sims. During her youth, she lived in Brookside and graduated from Brookside High School.

She met and married Alexander Barnes, Sr., and to this union six children were born. Later in life, she met and married Willie Milton.

On the morning of January 31, 2022, heaven gained a new angel. Queenie transitioned peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Willie Milton; her parents, Robert Sims and Ethel Young Sims; and six siblings.

Treasured memories will always remain with: her children, Alexander (Patricia) Barnes, Jr., Vivan Barnes, Quinton (Kimberly) Barnes, Horace Barnes, Sherry (Greg) Scott, and Michael (Glenda) Barnes; two brothers, two brothers, Harold (Louella) Sims and Herbert Sims; several grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
