Obituary

Rebecca Lanier Hicks, the eighth of ten children, was born on August 18, 1928 in Quincy, Florida from the union of Edward H. Lanier and Annie B. Lanier.

She received her education from the public school system of Calhoun County.

She was reared in a religious family and joined Thankful Baptist Church at an early age and remained a life-long member.

She transitioned life on Sunday, December 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving and grateful family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Edward and Annie Lanier; all of her siblings, Edna Marshall, Arthur Lanier, Lenora Freeman, Prince Lanier, Andrew Lanier, Jessie Lanier, Isaiah Lanier, Lois Strange and Willie Lanier.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children, Gwendolyn Hicks, Barbara Cunningham and James (Melinda) Hicks; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and the fifth generation of numerous great, great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Flossie Lanier and Lula Lanier; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
