SFC (Ret.) Robert Mims Bush was born on April 3, 1937 to the late Joe and Lucinda Christian Bush in Talladega, Alabama. After the death of his parents, Robert was raised by his sister, Eula Mae Bush Vincent.

He received his formal education in Anniston, Alabama and graduated from Cobb High School, Class of 1956. After graduation, at the age of 18, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He valued his service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. As part of his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Driver Badge, and 3 Overseas Service Bars and retired in 1976. After retiring from the military, he worked at and retired from the Anniston Army Depot.

Robert answered the Master's call on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by: his first wife, Susie M Bush; siblings, Joe Bush, Claudia Bush, Marvin Bush, Louise Ware, Edward Bush, Eula Mae Vincent and her husband Willie, Lennil Bush and his wife Ann, Marguerite DeLois Shands, and Herbert Bush and his wife Pearlie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert is survived by: his wife, Caudie Weeks Bush; a godchild, Mayor Ciara (Jamel) Smith-Roston; sisters-in-law, Betty Miller, Alva Chatmon, and Johnnie Mae Miller; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
