Mrs. Ruby Lee Elston McCrary was born on July 6,1949 to the late Mr. Clarence Elston, Sr. and the late Mrs. Inez Brown Elston.
Mrs. McCrary graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in 1968. She was employed by the State of Alabama in the Human Resources – Social Services Department. She joined Thankful Baptist Church at a young age under the leadership of Reverend E. W. Willis. She was a member of the choir, usher board, matrons and a Sunday School teacher. She was also in the Ministers' Wives Association and the Assistant Dean of the Rushing Springs district under Moderator, Reverend Billy Springer. She also worked with the Sun Beams. Ruby's favorite pastime was playing her favorite card games, 1000 and spades with her special friends.
On April 20, 1996, she married her true love, the late Reverend Charles McCrary. He was the pastor of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: one son, Delaneous Elston (Cynthia) of Ellenwood, Georgia; two sisters, Eddie (David) Satcher of Jonesboro, Georgia and Odessa Moore of Anniston, Alabama; one brother, Paul Franklin Elston of Jonesboro, Georgia; grandchildren, Jasmine (Chris) Sweet, Jordan Elston, Alia Bailey, kayla Elston, Ashley Cook; great-grandchildren, Hendriz D. Williams and Kamari A. Vines; special niece, Gwen Gray; special friends, Phronia Christian, Beulah Clark, Brenda Tyus, Dorothy McClellan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Clarence, Sr. and Inez; her husband, Charles McCrary; her son, Mark Anthony Elston; four sisters, Lena Hall, Lila Mae Hamilton, Mary Louise Miller-Minter, Joanne Campbell; three brothers, Franklin D D Elston, Lavon Elston, Clarence Elston, Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Anna Elston and Joetta Thomas; five brothers-in-law, Joe Miller, Charles Minter, George Moore, Sr., Ullis C. Hall, Willie Campbell.
