Ruth G. Lauderdale was born to the parentage of the Ellis and Mattie Ballard on February 5, 1940, in Goodwater, Alabama. She departed this life to receive her heavenly reward on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.
A time to love...Ruth united in holy matrimony to L.B. Lauderdale in Goodwater in 1961. To this union three children were born: Felicia, Vernesa and Willie B.
A time to gather...Ruth received her education in Coosa County. She furthered her education at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, where she studied nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
A time to build...Ruth began her careeh as a L.P.N. at Russell Hospital in Alexander City. After moving to Anniston, she worked at Anniston Memorial Hospital (RMC). She spent the majority of her career as an instructor and supervisor for Anniston Head Start. After retiring, she taught preschool at the Seventeenth Street Missionary Baptist Church.
A time to get...She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Marietta Baptist Church in Goodwater. After moving to Anniston she joined the Rest Have Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and headed that department for many years. She also served as a missionary worker and never missed church services until her health begin to fail.
A time to mourn...Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and one brother. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, L.B. Lauderdale; three children, Felicia (Rogers) Truss, Vernesa (Willie) Long of Alabaster and Willie B. (Sherry) Lauderdale; oen stepson, Claude (Mary) Wilson; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl (Elijah) Conway and Christine (Junior) Conway; two aunts, Nealie May Hoyett and Estell Strong; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
