Sarah Francis Allen was born on May 31 to the parentage of Sim and Thalia Allen in Anniston, Alabama. Both parents preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to A.D. Heard, Sr., who preceded her in death, on August 12, 1950 and to this union eleven children were born, eight boys and three girls. She was baptized into Christ on January 15, 2012 at the 16th & Noble Street Church of Christ. She was a devoted mother and homemaker as well as a great cook.

She departed this life on December 16, 2013 at Noland Hospital in Anniston, Alabama. She was preceded in death by: a son, Tommy Heard; one grandson, Deon Rawlings; six sisters, Caldonia Turner, Julia Wright, Margaret Allen, Prisilla Jones, Marie Ray and Annie Allen; one brother, James "Buddy" Allen. Those who will continue to love and cherish her memory are: her daughters, Margaret (Harrison) Bass of Las Vegas, Nevada, Janet (Doug) Heard of Oxford, Alabama and Jacqueline Heard of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her sons, A.D. (Bernadette) Heard, Jr. of Oxford, Alabama, Lemuel (Doris) Heard, Ronnie (Thretha) Heard, both of Orlando, Florida, Michael Heard of Oxford, Alabama, Barry (Gretchen) Heard of Bloomington, Indiana, Rickey (Sonya) Heard of El Paso, Texas and Garland (Tamalar) Heard of Oxford, Alabama; her sister, Sara Elizabeth Welch of Anniston, Alabama; forty grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
