Deacon Thaddeus Orlando Ackey, Sr. was born in Anniston, Alabama, on March 7, 1959 to the late Bishop Stephen and Eula C. Ackey. He graduated from Anniston High School in 1977. Thereafter, he attended Ayers Technical College, pursuing studies in brick masonry.

He married Lisa Delores Thornton on March 24, 1979. This union was blessed with two sons, Thaddeus Orlando Ackey, Jr. and Steven Dewayne Ackey. He diligently worked at Fort McClellan for fifteen years and at Walmart for five years.

He owned and operated his own car detailing business for over a decade. Thaddeus enjoyed watching sports and cheering for his Auburn Tigers!

Thaddeus was a righteous and holy man. He accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Pure Holiness Church of God and Freewill Holiness Church of God throughout his youth. He later attended New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Thaddeus lived his life to live again. He received his crown of righteousness on March 2, 2025 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bishop Stephen and Eula C. Ackey; and his brother, Raphael Thresherureau Ackey. Loving and cherished memories remain with; his devoted wife, Lisa Delores Ackey; two sons, Thaddeus Orlando Ackey, Jr. and Steven Dewayne Ackey; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Kenover Jackson; two aunts, Opal Kirkland and Navis Penson; three uncles, Roosevelt Ackey, Jesse Elder and Kenneth (Ann) Ackey; one sister-in-law, Dianne Thornton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
