Willie Daniel Thornton, son of John Arthur nad Ethel Inez Thornton, departed this life on March 8, 2017, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.

Willie was born on May 8, 1949, in Anniston, Alabama. He was the 7th of nine children. Willie graduated from Cobb Avenue High School in 1968. Upon completing high school, Willie began his career as an automotive mechanic. He received his mechanic certification at AAFES at Fort McClellan. He retired after 30 years of federal service.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, the Lord called him home. There is no more sorrow, pain or suffering.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory: three children, LaShon (Thomas) Bradley, Michelle Thomas and Michael ( Crystal) Thornton; four sisters, Doris Elizabeth, Ethel Lee, Queen and Tawanza Gail; two brothers, Henry (Betty) Thornton and Charlie (Charlotte) Thornton; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, John Arthur and Ethel Inez Thornton; and two sisters, Mary Louise Thornton and Lue Alice Thornton.
