Alonzo Leonard Obituary

Mr. Alonzo Leonard began life’s journey on December 6, 1939, born to the late Alonza Duncan and the late Odell Leonard in Talladega County.

Mr. Leonard later moved to Anniston, AL with his mother. He attended Cobb Avenue School. He worked several years for Boyd Bros Trucking Company, before going to work at Super Value. He was a truck driver at Super Value for over 30 years before retiring.

Mr. Leonard confessed Christ as his Lord and personal Savior as a young man. He united with All Saints Catholic Church and was a faithful member for many years.

Alonzo answered the Master’s call on Thursday July 23, 2020. Alonzo leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Leonard; Five children, Lynda Martin of Gainesville, GA, Ricky Jackson of Anniston, AL, Terry Jackson (Sophie) of Clarkesville, Tn. Jacqueline Hausey of oxford, AL and Pamela Shipman (William) of Gainesville, Ga. Four brothers, Lee Wallace Turner of Anniston AL, Alonza Duncan, Leonard Duncan and Walter Duncan all of Flint Michigan; three sisters, Lisa Leonard of Birmingham, AL, Maggie Evans of Childersburg, AL and Betty Wilson of Talladega, AL. Alonzo had 16 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 1 great- great- grandchild; special thanks to two granddaughters, LaShundra Jackson and TeEricaTaylor that assisted him closely with his care; one special friend, Darryl Miller and three sisters-in-law, Catherine Leonard, Emma Lou Jackson and Josie Turner. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alonza Duncan and Odell Leonard; brothers, Charles Leonard, Eddie Leonard and Thomas Leonard.
