!Mrs. Arlina Wilkerson Jones was born July 18, 1932 to the parentage of the late Booker and Flora Wilkerson of Tennessee. At an early age, Arlina accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the First United Presbyterian Church in Anniston, Alabama, where she served as Elder.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late James C. Jones on June 15, 1956 and this union was blessed with two children. Arlina was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, teacher, Elder, friend, and neighbor, who loved life.
On May 16, 2023, Arlina passed away at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama and is now resting with her Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Arlina served 42 years as a teacher at Calhoun County Training School, Cobb Junior High, Weaver High School, Ayers State College, Gadsden State College, and Jacksonville State University. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Stillman College and a Master of Arts Degree from Jacksonville State University. She was a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and proudly served on the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners.
Arlina was preceded in death by her husband James C. Jones; parents Booker and Flora Wilkerson; Siblings and their spouses: “The Twins”, Donald Wilkerson, Robert Wilkerson, Daniel and Beatrice Wilkerson, Wanda and William Johnson, Minnie and Burnell Breedlove, and Justine and Carl Boatright; and three nephews: Bobby Wilkerson, Larry Breedlove, and Talford Boatright.
Arlina is survived by her loving and faithful children; one son, Kevin Jones of Birmingham and one daughter, Kimberly Jones of Washington, DC; and Kevin’s family: his wife, Angela and their children, Kristyn (Calvin) Ruff of Florida, Karson Jones, Kelli Jones, and Kassadi Jones, all of Birmingham; two great-grandchildren, Everleigh Jones of Birmingham, and Calvin Ruff III of Florida; one sister, Frances (Calvin) Talley of Georgia; and a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends whose loving memories of her will forever be cherished in their hearts.
