Danny Hughley Obituary

Mr. Daniel Hughley was the fifth of nine children, born December 6, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama, to the parentage of the late Otis and Alma Turner Hughley.

At an early age Danny united with Mars Hill Baptist Church and maintained that relationship as a lifelong member and attended until his health failed. He was a graduate of Calhoun County Training School, class of 1966, and went on to live his life around family and friends in Anniston. When able, he was a lover of hunting, fishing, and anything sports related. He was never above telling anyone, “I don’t want to talk on the phone right now, the ball game is on.” He believed the only thing that rivaled a good ball game regardless of the sport, was a good Western. Danny was a kind, sharing, and friendly man and he knew no strangers. His fun-loving, positive attitude will never be forgotten.

Danny departed this life and went to his heavenly home on May 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Alma; Step-Mother: Catherine Emory Hughley; Sister, Janie Lou Hughley; brothers: William Hughley, Jimmy Hughley, and Samuel Hughley.

Those left behind with cherished memories are: his sons, Patrick (Vickie) Hughley of Pearland, Texas, Kelvin Hughley of Anniston, Delvin (Carmela) Hughley of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Darius (Evan), Jordan, Raymond, Maya, Quentarious, Isaiah, Zariah, Keyunnyah, Kelvin Jr., Sakani, and Sakaiya; sisters: Mae Long, Lacie Bailey, and Tammy Lanier all of Anniston, and Sherron (William) Weston of Gadsden, Alabama; step sisters, Connie Emory, Tabitha Austin; step-brothers, Sam (Shirley) Emory, Gregory Emory, Vince (Theresa) Emory, and Edward Emory. Danny also leaves a very special companion, Ms. Barbara Jean Wright, whom he cared very deeply for, as well as two of his dearest, lifelong friends, Richard Farrow and Sylvester Harris; and of host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss his presence dearly.

A very special "Thank You" to the angels of Kindred Hospice.
