Fred was born on April 26, 1960, as the youngest son of five boys to the parentage of James and Flossie Gibson. Fred united with the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at a very early age, along with his family, who were also members. Fred was raised in a God-fearing family. He knew the Lord and had a personal relationship with God.
Fred was known as “Dirt” by his close friends and family due to his love and passion for car and motorcycle repairs—he was known all over town for his talent in fixing cars. Fred was truly a “shade tree mechanic” especially in his younger years. Fred didn’t seem to have a care in the world, yet he had great love and concern for everyone he met along this journey, always smiling. He was quite witty with a very distinct laugh.
Fred was preceded in death by: his father, James L. Gibson; his brother, Wayne Lee Gibson; his grandparents, Rev. O.J. and Grace Leeth, Gussie Hightower, and George Gibson.
Fred ended his earthly journey on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in Anniston, Alabama. Fred leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving mother, Flossie L. Gibson; his brothers, Wendell (Jackie), Dennis (Carolyn), and Douglas (Jonnie); his only sister, Tammy (Shawn); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
