Specialist Giovanni Mosley Obituary

NO PUBLIC VIEWING

On October 2, 1998, in Fort Benning, Georgia, Giovanni Xavier Mosley was born to parents Christiana Dobbins and Ryan Kelley (special father, Eric Mosley). Soon after birth Giovanni moved to Weaver Alabama, where he eventually started school at Weaver Elementary, where his love of football was born.

Giovanni was a super athlete in all the sports he played, especially track and football. In football he was a part of the playoff teams in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, even after having surgery to repair a torn ACL in 2016. In 2017, the Anniston Star selected all decade teams and Giovanni was an honorable mention selection for 2000 – present as a linebacker. Also in 2017, Giovanni was cleared just in time to run in the sectional track meet and ran the final leg of the 4 x 100-meter relay, outrunning the leader to win the race.

Giovanni truly lived for the love of football, just as his grandfather, Don Wayne Coleman did. Giovanni even played football with the same number (#20) as his grandfather. Being great at football definitely came natural to him.

As much as people knew Giovanni loved sports, he loved his family just as much. He was so proud of being an uncle to his nephew, Cash Xavier. He made videos and took pictures of himself with Cash every chance he got. After attending and playing college football in Missouri for a short time, due to an injury, he returned home to Weaver, where he started working at Lowe’s until joining the Army in 2021. Giovanni was preceded in death by: his great-grandparents, John Dobbins, Jr. and Sylvia Ann Armstrong Dobbins, A.C. (Andrew Charles) and Christine Coleman; grandparents: Don Wayne Coleman and Audrey Jean Dobbins. Those left to cherish precious memories with our sweet Giovanni are: his mother, Christiana Dobbins; his father, Ryan Kelley; his special father, Eric Mosley; his sisters, Jazmin Mosley and Vanessa l. Kelley; his brothers, DJ Harris and Ryan O. Kelley; his nephews, Cash Xavier and A’Darius Maxwell; his niece, Aviana Maxwell; his nannie, Yolanda Coleman Lovitt (Randy); his aunts, Donnita Coleman, Aunjolie Coleman and Ashley Coleman; his best friends that he has basically had all of his life, London Knight, Maurice Goodman, Paul Hubbard, Tyrik Hall, Cody Ortiz, Robert Guines, Dalton Hamby, Dane Akers, Madison Williams; the special men in his life that helped him become the young man he was, Jerome Allen (godfather), John Dobbins (uncle), Michael Dobbins (big cousin), Mitchell Coleman, Jr., J.R. Coleman, Coach Daryl Hamby, Coach Gary Atchley, Chris Armstrong, Kevin Harper, Robert Henderson, Drey Withers, Rick Cunningham, and Randy Lovitt; the special women that couldn’t love him anymore had he been their own biological child, Kandi S. Dobbins (big cousin), Nannie, Yolanda Lovitt, Nicole Allen. Sandra Johnson, Nikia Sturkie, Cathy Hamby, Jennifer Fields, Markeeta Coleman and Jennifer Hollis; and a plethora of other relatives and friends. Giovanni was loved by so many and will live in our hearts forever. our hearts are broken but we also know that we have to live for Giovanni.
